Was possible to hang CDS when deleting points on fixed layers.

We have also added in a message why fixed points are not deleted.

Monday, November 29, 2010

Last version posted had a problem in that data files created could not be read by previous versions.

CDS2 (traverse)

When doing a traverse network listings always had north, then east in the order. Now if in metric order is east, north and if in imperial (eg US) still comes out north, east.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Attributes (still being implemented)
CDS now allows you to add in user defined attributes that are associated with each point in the database. These attributes can be integers, doubles or strings.
At present only way to get attributes into CDS is via variable ascii import. The variable ascii import has a new import type of attribute. Enter the attribute name, type and hit "attribute end" button to associate it with the column being added in.
Once attributes are in, you can view them via query dialog. ie question mark or right click on a point. Then click on the "extra attributes" button when query dialog is active. The attributes are shown in a new dialog. At present they are not edittable.
You can also display on screen via modes button (via layers not done yet)
You can print. From plot parameters tick the attributes data. (at present can only print all or none of the attributes)
You can export to dwg. As either an attribute associated with point symbol block or as text to layer with same name as the attribute name.
More updates on this coming.

When creating design sections; and using template element join to string by design. The wrong height could be calculated if string we are joining to was created/interpolated using the "calculate chainages referenced to a different string"

Monday, October 11, 2010

Sped up importing moss genio files that contain large numbers of strings.
When plotting design cross sections the color defined in the design templates was not being plotted out.

Friday, October 8, 2010

When renaming a string - either folder or ID name. If there was associated road data with it then this could become lost. It now is associated with the renamed string.

Monday, September 27, 2010

Layers - if changed active layer a number of times - then layer inserted after calculating a new point was the previous layer set. It would also not then allow you to change the layer on the point. You needed to leave and re-enter the program.

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Running profile interpolation - using chainage calculated from another string. Points before and after the main alignment on secondary profile are now ignored.

Importing DWG/DXF. A new check box that controls whether dwg blocks are exploded or not. If not the block is replaced with a point in CDS2. Otherwise the block is expanded into lines, arcs, etc.

Installer Update

If you try to access cds2 by double clicking cdsdat file then the process can fail under certain conditions.
If you are running under a different user account than that which it was installed from then it brings up a message asking you to enter the address where cds2download.exe can be found. Even if this is available it still fails saying cds2.msi can not be found.

This is now fixed. cds2.msi is not deleted after installation now. The software automatically does the update now.

Friday, September 10, 2010

Site code/site key licensing now works for 64bit windows.

The existing crypkey licence is converted to the new licencing upon installation

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

DOP (Dot On Point was not always right).

Fron File Menu - plot parameters - point parameters. Tick DOP tickbox and software forces you to use "courier new" as it is an even spaced font and makes sure dot ends up where it's supposed to be.

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

When importing dwg files it was possible that some points could go missing.

Bug when creating Civilcad ascii 5 files; if string folder name was too long.

Friday, August 20, 2010

When importing data the design height was not being imported.

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Sometimes stadia was displaying slowly. There was an internal error when displaying fieldnotes.

Zoom extents - sometimes not working correctly. There was an issue with some background bitmap parameters even though nothing was being displayed - now fixed.

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Code was being chopped off at 8 characters when doing a variable ascii.

Only 8 chars of the code were displayed on the screen.

Friday, July 16, 2010

When creating dwg. Bug in dwg produced if there is an entry in the CDS linetype file ltype that does not have a name.

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Was not giving a warning if stadia had two or more points with the same point number but different coordinates. It was putting the last point found into the database.

Also variable and symbols directory have had there permissions changed. Before CDS2 needed admin access to change the files. Otherwise a ghost version was changed; which could get confusing if you ever needed to go looking for it.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Text display for text was displayed at incorrect height.

GTS7 import from entry - data collectors was not working. The import has been moved to File - Import and now works.

Thursday, June 10, 2010

Interpolation of string profiles : When doing the interpolation there is now an option to calculate the chainage from another defined string. There is a folder and string id box. Fill them in if you wish to use this option.

An example where you would use this is. Assume you have a road centre-line which you have a profile. You also want a profile 10 meters to the right and plotted as well. However the chainage of the right profile needs chainages based on the center-line not along the right edge.

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

raw import

Not handling back face shots and averaging of shots if had a normal followed by a back face shot. Now fixed.

Monday, May 10, 2010

After editting triangles. If went straight to boundaries options - software gives message about an invalid triangle and goes no further. Now fixed.

When dumping data into database - changing point code and nothing else of a point already in the database. The point code didn't go in.

Monday, May 3, 2010

Road sections - cut and fill batters. There was a problem if the start of the section was further from the centre-line than the start of the batter.

Support for parallel port hardware dongles; scribe and sentinal C dropped. New secure DongleX now supported.

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

First - what happened to version 44 to 48 - They were changes to incorporate a new time limited licence into the trial version and do not affect the upgrade version here.

It was possible to select a linetype out of the allowable range and crash CDS. Check added in and linetype defaults to by layer.

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

When importing a dwg/dxf CDS will enter a 3d face with 3 points in as a triangle. Previously it only created the points making up the face.
Quality assurance - remove duplicate points was not modifying the triangles properly.
The compress point number was also screwing up the displayed triangles.

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

(1) When drawing points as either a circle or double circle and not all points were drawn like this; then strings being drawn could be cut short if the point on the string was not drawn as circle/double circle.

(2)When interactively dragging a line an error message could appear if an arc was at the end of the string.

Monday, March 15, 2010

Last update introduced a bug in the datum value displayed when doing profile sections. Fixed.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Road works standard templates - were not reading and writing correctly to the archive.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

(1) When doing a string add or string change. Color and line type both defaulted to the current layer. It still does. However to change only need to change color or linetype and bylayer is turned off. Before we needed to turn of ByLayer flag first.

(2) Background bitmap was going missing. New bug only couple of updates old.

Thursday, March 4, 2010

Section lift values would slowly change.

If two reference lines in section plot the heights of the second reference line were not being displayed.

For two reference lines in a section plot. If 2nd line had a lift the second datum rl value was not being displayed.

Problem creating section intersect points between two surfaces. Only occured if there were the same number of points in the top and bottom surface.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Last point in the database - sorting by chainage - the offset was ignored. This meant this point could be out of order. Often showed up in section view when looking at the last section.

When viewing profiles - lift on 2nd line was not always working - fixed.

Friday, February 26, 2010

Plotting and Display sections: settings for line type, color and line thickness were missing. Right click in profile view and select plot parameters.

Reference coordinates in profile view were not displaying when doing road works by road number. Fixed.

Road plot parameters. Was not listening to the design tick box; and putting out one to many box's in section plot or export.

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Old style roadworks using database points.

now: If a code is specified in road parameters then we get a profile only.

If no code specified then we can have a profile and sections

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

When entering or changing strings the string can be saved immediately after a paste command into the edit box from the clipboard. Before nothing changed unless some further input was done.

Layer combo box added to points add, points alter and strings add and strings change. New layers can now also be added from these and also easier to select an existing layer.

If select two or more points on the screen then when you right click you see the option to automatically string the points together. The string automatically goes into layer "lots" and default id of string### If you need to change then simply right click on string after it is created and change it.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

feature coding - sing feature code library entry such as V would not pick up codes that included attributes. For example V-MU23

Importing data. Import program sometimes doesn't find cds2 program - a better error message added to help find the problem.

Monday, February 22, 2010

Feature code library and creating strings. Code library used to create strings in the order that points were picked up and went into the database.

It now does them in point number order. Most people wont see a difference as point pickup is normally in increasing point numbe order.

Friday, February 19, 2010

Exporting of ESRI shape files. Polylines are now supported.

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

When interpolating profiles and sections; some section points were not being calculated. They were the result of a triangle edge that was exactly vertical.

When creating profile of an arc sometimes the arc start point was repeated at a distance of the arc diameter alon the profile.

Monday, February 15, 2010

Communications program

Comms program to download and upload files from Total Stations etc. The allowable comm's ports has been raised from 8 to 16. Some USB to Serial cables default to comms port 14.

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Further tweaking of screen display of text. We have added a tick box to the plot parameters - point parameter tab called "Text Height on screen". If this is ticked height displayed on the screen is identical to the text height printed or exported.

If it is unticked the text height on the screen reflects the text height set in options - view - text height.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Plot and display parameters are automatically stored to hard disk. When we open a new job these parameters are applied rather than hard coded initial defaults.

When creating a new string the layer is set to 0 rather than defaulting to no name.

Bug fix when displaying profiles based on road numbers. Can now use the same road number for each profile with a unique code.

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

When adding in new field edges; existing field section's tended to get screwed up.

Monday, February 8, 2010

Some tweaking the way job is displayed on the screen.

When displaying job "my modes" the text color is taken from the layer the point is on; not the text color defined in options - view - screen text.

When displaying job "by layer" minimum text size is now capped. This avoids the problem that if font size gets too small windows automatically displays the text at a larger size which makes the job hard to see.

Friday, February 5, 2010

The Join Dialog has been enhanced.

Segment to Distance has been added. Click in two points that define a line or click on an existing string. The 2 end points of the segment clicked are entered. left click on a third point. We report a distance and bearing of closest point on this line segment

We have also entered in some short cuts to bring up the Join Dialog. Select 2 points on the screen. Right click for menu item and click on the Join option.

Select 3 points on the screen - right click and the option to report the distance from the line segment between the first 2 points and the third point is displayed.

Select a String and a Point - right click and the option to display the minimum distance between the string and the point is displayed.

Bug when creating ESRI shape files - points only fixed.

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Editting strings. Often when deleting points the string was not updated. Now fixed.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

(1) When doing string change and entering in new point was not always saving this change.
(2) When entering a sequence (ie dot command eg 1.9 for 1,2,3 etc) was not recognizing it until a comma was added to the end.
(3) If you select some strings and then right click to bring up the menu ; there is now an option to close the selected string/strings.

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

CDS can now load and recall more than one plot parameter default. From File menu and plot parameters. If you press the "save defs" button a file name is prompted. You can then save as many different defaults as you need.
Pressing "Load Defs" brings up same filedialog box and you can load any saved definition file

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

(1) If to strings are overlapped and you click on it to select a string selection box will pop up and you can select the string of interest from the box
(2) When doing a raw export to a wild(leica) file the design heights were coming out at zero height if doing by design heights.

Added in new menu item to store section edges as strings. Strings are created along the existing sections. They are in the "fields" folder. Also a string 0.1m inside the section is created. This can be used for breaklines etc. It is in the folder "fields_inside".
When in Ezigrade the function is run from the Fields menu and then "store fields as strings"

Monday, January 18, 2010

Printing or exporting multiple natural profiles. Sometimes profiles were going missing when printing 3 or more natural profiles.

Friday, January 8, 2010

The last section was not always being displayed in both the section view and on the plan view.

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Ascii output. at end of each line put out incorrectly.
The triangle list now uses the zero based index's from the points list.

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

Added in an option to create as ascii output file. This contains grid placement, sections, surface definition and equations to calculate output design. For farmscan integration.

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

(1) When updating points; sometimes the layer name was lost and reverted to layer 0. Problem was if layer name was in lower case.

(2) When displaying job onscreen "by Layers". Point text and Font is displayed at the plotted height. Point text is now defined as a real world height (meters or feet) rather than as a point height. What you see on the screen is what is plotted or as it goes to autocad.

(3) Seperate definition for height to autocad has been removed. What you see on the screen is what is plotted is what goes to autocad.
